Mixer Conference 2007

Welcome to the 2007 Mixer Conference!

This year's 7th annual Mixer Conference is being held at the University of Toronto Scarborough! This year's Mixer, themed "Quality CPR: The Missing Link in the Chain of Survival", focuses on patients rarely seen by CERTs (Campus Emergency Response Teams), who also happen to be the sickest patient a response will ever encounter: those without a pulse.

Included this year are seminars on resuscitation, search & rescue, forensics & ballistics and specialty paramedic teams presented by internationally known experts. The banquet promises to be a night to remember and the competition will be unforgettable!

Be sure to arrive Friday night before 8pm to be inspired by our keynote speaker, Dr. Laurie Morrison. Dr. Morrison is the Chair of the ACLS committee of the American Heart Association and Director of the Prehospital and Transport Medicine Research Program at the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Morrison has recently created a network throughout southern Ontario that has increased survival from out of hospital cardiac arrest by 50%! We're expecting a great turnout and hope you can attend the conference too.

See You in Toronto!

Seminar Information

Mixer Seminars

Seminars at this year's Mixer Conference will include a variety of themes aimed towards educating and entertaining First Responders. Below is a up to date list of seminars that will be offered in this year's Mixer Conference.

1. Search and Rescue

Seminars in Land Search & Rescue and Provincial Volunteer Response Teams will introduce participants to Ontario SAR programs including CASARA (Civil Air Search and Rescue Association) and OVERT (Ontario Volunteer Emergency Response Team). The former group offers the unique perspective of air SAR, while the latter organization is operated by the Ontario Provincial Police and covers land SAR.

2. Ballistics and Forensics

The CSI investigator in all of us will enjoy the fascinating lectures in Ballistics & Forensics, while the seminar on Meth Labs will highlight the many dangers, to both abusers and those who aim to help them, which these illegal operations create.

3. Personal Protection

Practical seminars on personal protective equipment emphasize the proper use of the most important tools First Reponders have, those that protect us, while aiming to education (and entertain) responders to the many situations where their use can reduce responder morbidity and even mortality.

4. New Life Saving Technologies

Finally, the paradigm shift of the 2005 guidelines will be explained using a variety of interactive initiatives. This seminar will include new technologies CERT teams can employ to improve outcomes in the sickest of patients.
